Most recently, we were engaged to investigate a claim by a family member saying she was entitled to half of a £12 million Estate. We were able to prove she was incorrectly claiming she had received nothing from her father's estate. She also claimed that the deceased had passed ownership of a residential property to her immediate family, yet through our forensic research we proved it was only ever rented on an Assured Shorthold Tenancy to the family member (who, incidentally had failed to pay the rent!). An agreement that was satisfactory to both parties was reached at mediation. Without our input it is likely the Estate may have been required to pass up to £6m to the family member.
